Fourth Mainland Bridge: Almost 800 Structures Set To Be Demolished

The Federal and Lagos State governments have announced that about 795 houses would be destroyed in order to construct the proposed 37-kilometre Fourth Mainland Bridge.

The two authorities stated that a lot of hard work was to put into reducing the number of affected structures from about 9,000 to its current number.

The state government, however, assured the landowners that they will be compensated.

Mahmoud Abubakar, the minister for environment stated that they would see to the compensation of landowners while speaking with the Federal Ministry of Environment at the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Stakeholders’ scoping workshop in Lagos state.

The minister, represented by James Kolawole, a director in the ministry said that the proposed project would have about 16 alignments.
